Developing Highly Effective Teaching and Learning for Pupils with SEND

This development programme brings together Kirklees schools, to explore practical, evidence informed approaches for improving teaching and learning for pupils with SEND in mainstream classrooms.

Underpinned by the best available evidence on high quality teaching, targeted academic support and
school-wide approaches, school leaders will develop and implement strategies fit for their setting so that all attainment of SEND pupils is maximised.

Programme Aims
  • To extend school leader and teacher knowledge of the strategies that have the greatest impact on learning and progress for pupils with SEND.
  • Schools to use recommendations from the EEF Special Educational Needs in Mainstream Guidance Report to improve the quality of teaching and learning. 
Training

Delivered through a blended approach over 6 sessions across the academic year, the training will include:

  • Input on evidence informed strategies to support pupils with SEND
  • Focus on implementation to support school improvement
  • Case study examples from local leaders
  • Application to change and sustainability the individual context: all schools will explore the research and write an implementation plan
  • Implementation coaching to support schools
