New Kirklees Graduated Approach Documents
Improving the outcomes for our children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) is at the heart of our Inclusive Ambitions to tackle key inequality issues in Kirklees. Investing in our learners and their families at the earliest opportunity will support us to help them achieve their best possible outcomes.
These new toolkits will enable teachers to identify children and young people who need something additional or different to their peers to make progress and which may require them to be placed on the schools Special Needs Register at SEND Support. The toolkits will also help school staff identify the provision that can be put in place to meet the needs of such children and young people and to monitor the impact of that provision.
There are six toolkits which are available to download below (each link opens a pdf in a new window, alternatively you can right click each link and download the pdf).
Communication & Interaction Needs
Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs
Physical Difficulties/Disabilities
The toolkits have been developed by representatives from schools and our specialist SEND services.
We will be offering training to schools on how best to use these: to ensure that we can provide support to children and young people and help ensure that provision is matched to the needs identified.
Kirklees have also produced an audit tool for teachers called the Inclusive High Quality Teaching Audit Tool. The above toolkits are designed to be used along side this audit tool.
