Emotion coaching

Kirklees Educational Psychology Team have put together a package of resources to help school staff with supporting all pupils with the return to school in September. They have been developed using Emotion Coaching which is an evidence-based universal approach in supporting pupils in understanding some of the emotions they may be experiencing.

The resource package includes:
• 1 PowerPoint session ‘An Introduction to Emotion Coaching to support with transition.’ This includes an audio put together as a learning and development package which outlines the key principles of emotion coaching. Staff are required to go through this in order to support them in delivering the lesson resources. Before using please read the disclaimer at the bottom.

2. Empathy (1 lesson)
3. Hand model of the brain (1 lesson)
• Key Stage 2

These lesson plans could be used in class/form time, circle time, with a targeted group of pupils or on a one-to-one with a pupil who may be struggling more than others. The package should provide all teachers with the appropriate knowledge and evidence to then be able to deliver the lesson plans.  It is not intended that staff who access the training will be fully trained in Emotion Coaching, however the learning and development session is intended to support with the delivery of lesson plans to pupils.

All of the resources, guidance and training can be found on the EP Emotion Coaching page on Kirklees Business Solutions. (opens link in new window)
