The Kirklees CAMHS specialist Learning Disability Service

The CAMHS Learning Disability (LD) Service provide a dedicated service for children and young people in Kirklees who have an intellectual/learning disability at any level and co-existing mental health concerns that requires input from a specialist service.
Children and young people do not need an LD diagnosis to access support from the service.
Every child or young person accepted into the service will have an initial assessment undertaken. We hold assessment clinics every 2 weeks in Dewsbury and Huddersfield
Who is this service for?
Children and young people who are younger than 18 years old
We work with children and young person across the range of learning disability: mild, moderate, severe, and profound.
How to access what we do
- From 1st March 2024, we are able to accept direct referrals for children or young people who are attending the following Specialist Education Provisions:
Castle Hill School
- Fairfield School
- Ravenshall School (including PFA)
- Southgate School
- Woodley School and College.
Referrals can be made by a child/young person, parents/carer, or any other professional involved in their care.
Referrals for children who do not attend one of the above schools will need to be made via Kirklees Keep In Mind.
