Hanging Heaton CE(VC) Junior & Infant School
High Street, Hanging Heaton, Batley, West Yorkshire, WF17 6DWDescription of the School
We are committed to recognising the uniqueness of an individual and to acknowledge and develop the positive qualities that all have regardless of race, religion, gender or special educational need or disability to achieve their full potential.
We have 5 mixed age classes with up to 30 pupils and we are a school committed to the inclusion of all in everything we do and strive to ensure equal opportunities for all to achieve their best.
All staff and governors at the school will do their best to meet the needs of all the pupils at the school.
Special Eeducational needs provision is monitored closely by the governing body. We admit pupils to the school based on the Education Authority’s admission procedures and welcome all pupils, including those with special educational needs or a disabilities (SEND). Transition for all our pupils is carefully planned and involves close liaison with parents and current settings.
Our Inclusion Offer
Children have special educational needs if they have a learning difficulty or physical disability which calls for special individualised educational provision to be made for them. These can vary in complexity from special educational needs (SEN) support, a need which may result in individualised activity in order to allow the child to make appropriate levels of progress, or a more complex set of needs, which may result in the production of an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), where all parties involved from Education, Social Care and Health are involved in the process. These needs can vary in nature.
We will endeavour to meet the needs of any child whose parents wish them to be at our school. This also includes children looked after by the local authority. As a small school we pride ourselves on our nurturing environment, the close liaison with parents and our open door policy where we always welcome parental involvement.
All our provision is fully inclusive including curriculum and after school activities.

We have local links with schools within our local pyramid. We have regular Cluster meetings where we are able to share best practice with fellow SEND professionals and educational psychologists and also, with parental permission, discuss the needs of particular children (whose cases are anonymised).
