Netherhall St James CE(VC) Infant & Nursery School

Rawthorpe Lane, Rawthrope, Huddersfield, HD5 9NT

Description of the School

Our school is the infant phase of the Netherhall Learning Campus. Children gain a place at our school through the standard Kirklees admissions process. This means that our pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can be well supported with transition through our schools.

We are an inclusive school who strive to give our SEND pupils access to a broad and balanced curriculum and quality first teaching alongside their peers wherever possible alongside meeting their own individual needs. We work very closely with outside agencies to ensure that we seek expert advice in how to best meet the needs of our SEND pupils. We also work very closely with our parents of SEND pupils to ensure that they are fully informed and happy with the provision that we are providing for their child.

Our Inclusion Offer

We are an inclusive school who strive to ensure that all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum and equal access to all before and after school activities. Our aim is to ensure that the school environment for teaching and learning is safe, secure and free from disruption.

We strive to ensure that all children feel supported, valued and are treated with respect. All staff have been trained in the THRIVE (a leading provider of tools and training to help adults support the social and emotional development of the children and young people they are working with) approach. We also have dedicated, accredited THRIVE practitioner who work alongside teachers to provide additional support for children with identified social, emotional and mental health (SEHM) needs.

We work hard to support all our parents and offer free workshops and courses within school. A Numicon workshop, behaviour in the home course and a healthy mind and well being workshop are just a couple of examples that have all run during the past year. We also support our parents to access additional support services outside of school.
