Purlwell Infant & Nursery School

Purlwell Infant and Nursery school is an inclusive school, we deliver quality first teaching, adapting the curriculum to cater for and meet the specific needs of every child.
We have a large nursery and up to 90 children in each year group, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
To obtain a place at our nursery, please contact the school office.
To obtain a place at our school, standard Kirklees admission procedures apply.
Our school currently provides additional and/or different provision for a range of needs, including:
• Communication and interaction, for example, autistic spectrum disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, speech and language difficulties .
• Cognition and learning.
• Social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
• Sensory and/or physical needs, for example, visual impairments, hearing impairments, processing difficulties, epilepsy .
• Moderate/severe/profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Our SEN policy and information report aims to ensure that:
• All pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum
• Pupils receive a differentiated curriculum appropriate to the individual’s needs and ability.
• The identification of all pupils requiring SEN provision as early as possible in their school career.
• Pupils with SEN take as full a part as possible in all school activities.
• Parents of pupils with SEN are kept fully informed of their child’s progress and attainment.
• Pupils who have additional needs are involved where practicable in decisions affecting their future SEN provision.

Purlwell Infant and Nursery School works in partnership with the BBEST community hub (Batley and Birstall schools in excellence together). The hub is made up of 20 schools in the Batley and Birstall area and has the Primary Pupil referral service as an associate member.

Purlwell Nursery opening times are:
8.30-11.30am
12.30-3.30pm
We are also able to take Nursery pupils for a 30 hour placement.
In Key Stage 1 opening times are:
8.45-3.20pm
