Ravensthorpe CE(VC) Junior School
Myrtle Road, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, WF13 3ASDescription of the School
We encourage all of our children to realise their full potential, to help and support each other and to be proud of their achievements. We cater for 7-11 year olds (years 3-6) and currently have 432 pupils on roll.
Admission is through the standard admissions process. We have very good relationships with our feeder school and the local secondary schools and share information to support pupils’ learning and well-being at transition.
Further support is provided as necessary for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) including additional visits to the new setting, both individually and as part of an enhanced transition programme. We ensure that early identification, quality first teaching, accurate tracking and effective communication with parents help our SEND pupils to realise their full potential. This school is wheelchair accessible.
Our Inclusion Offer
We have an inclusive school with Quality First Teaching at the heart of our provision. Should additional support be required, our dedicated Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) will consult with staff members, the learner and their family in order to provide tailored interventions which are monitored for impact. With an open-door policy, families are provided with the support they need. Progress is reviewed during regular Pupil Passport target meetings and Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) annual reviews.
The involvement of external agencies (such as the Educational Psychologists) provides expert advice; this in turn supports our curriculum planning. Training is given to staff members so that they can provide personalised, targeted support. Our pupiles are given the opportunity to participate in a wide-range of after-school clubs; pupils with SEND are encouraged to attend. We also provide groups which are designed to specifically support the needs of those with SEND; for example, a movement group (focussing on the development of motor skills).

School Hub Group
Thrive Hub West: We aim to meet the needs of our children, from cradle to career, such that they can benefit fully from the teaching and learning within their schools and develop into healthy and productive young adults. We will create collaborative, constructive links within the school's network and between different agencies to ensure effective, efficient and targetted use of scarce resources for the benefit of the families in our care. In other words, the Hub will support our children and our families as they grow up.
Opening Times
The school is open Monday to Friday.
We start school at 8:50am and finish at 3:30pm.
