Crossley Fields Junior and Infant School

Crossley Fields Junior and Infant School,Wellhouse Lane, Mirfield, WF14 0BE

Description of the School

Crossley Fields Junior and Infant school caters for Reception children to Year 6 (aged 4-11).

The school caters for a range of additional needs and recognises the four broad categories in the SEN Code of Practice 2014: Communication and Interaction (including Autism Spectrum Disorder), Cognition and Learning, Social, emotional and mental health difficulties and sensory or physical difficulties.

Although a fluid number our number on roll is currently around 580 children. School admissions through the local authority is the way in which a place would be granted at the school. By liaising with outside agencies and engaging with parents, transition for children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) can be supported by providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment that caters for and develops the specific needs of children.

This school is wheelchair accessible from KS3 buildings.

Our Inclusion Offer

We at Crossley Fields Junior and Infant School aim to provide a fully inclusive environment where all children are valued and offered the best education possible, regardless of race, age, gender, disability or ability.

We have a whole school approach towards special educational needs (SEN) policy and practice in which every teacher is a teacher of all children, including those with special educational needs and disability (SEND).

We believe that every child is special and has different needs. We aim to meet these needs effectively by offering a broad and balanced curriculum and, as far as practically possible, teach children in mainstream classes under the National Curriculum. At Crossley Fields, we believe that a partnership with parents and external agencies plays a key role in enabling children with SEND to achieve their full potential by fostering a safe, caring and stimulating environment which supports children with SEND to enjoy, progress and achieve.

Please see our SEND infomation page. (Opens new window)
