All about us

FINCHES operate weekly on a Saturday at two locations; Huddersfield and Dewsbury. 

The Huddersfield session runs from 9:00am – 12:00pm, at Oxfield Court, Dalton HD5 9UZ.
Dewsbury session runs from 1:00 – 4:00pm, at (to be confirmed - in process of venue change).

Both centres offer soft play areas, sensory rooms and open play rooms, as well as disabled toilet facilities.

 

Activities differ from session to session but include: arts and crafts, baking, sensory play and singing, for example.

 All sessions are free.

Who is this service for?

From ages between 6 – 17yrs.

 

Activity centre for children whom are unable to access other activities in the community. Children are supported on a 4:1 basis.

 

Group activity with sensory and soft play activities and session plans in place. Outcomes focused support to help children work on set areas of improvements, such as peer support, sharing, playing with others and communication.

 

Children with behaviours that challenge, that do not require 1:1 support, personal care and social support.

 

Families are not encouraged to stay at sessions as they are designed to offer short respite breaks for carers. Families are more than welcome to call to discuss their child’s needs.

How to access what we do

Families can access the sessions through Children with Disabilities teams, or can self-refer.

 

Places are offered on availability. 11 children maximum capacity at each session. Waiting lists are in place.

 

There is no transport services available. Families must drop off and collect the children.
