Neurodiversity Week Wednesday - Dyspraxia

Today we are celebrating individuals with Dyspraxia (DCD –Development Coordination Disorder) and all the talents an individual with DCD can bring.

What is dyspraxia/Developmental coordination disorder (DCD)❓ Dyspraxia mainly causes difficulties with co-ordination and physical movement; the planning, organisation and carrying out of movements in the right order. It can be diagnosed by professionals such as a paediatrician, occupational therapist (OT), physiotherapist or an educational psychologist.
Every individual with DCD is UNIQUE, but some common challenges include:
- Co-ordination which can affect everyday activities such as tying shoe laces,
- writing and playing sports
- Organisation and planning, and working memory
- Time management
- Processing speed, memory and following direction
👨‍🦳Famous people with dyspraxia include, Daniel Radcliffe, Florence Welch (Florence and the machine) and Cara Delevingne
