Local Offer Live 2025!

PCAN and the Local Offer team are proud to work together and bring you Local Offer Live for 2025!

Local Offer Live is a free, face-to-face event where families can come along and find lots of services and activity providers for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We always value feedback and people told us that last year’s event was brilliant but did feel a bit cramped, so this year we have more space and there will be more room for all visitors.

Everyone is welcome to attend Local Offer Live and get all the SEND information and support they need. There will be stalls, workshops, and lots of people to meet, along with support from PCAN (Parents of Children with Additional Needs) and the Local Offer team. More information will be available on the Local Offer over the next few months.

Local Offer Live is a great way to ask questions and discover more about SEND in Kirklees. Make a note in your diary: Thursday 23rd October 2025, from 9:15am to 5:15pm,

at the John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield.

New year, new content

We are always working to improve the Local Offer website so that families and young people can find the right information as quickly as possible.

We are currently developing details about independent living and preparing for adulthood - but we want to make sure our content is driven by YOU.

Have your say on the Local Offer website and help us to make it even better. Does the Local Offer help? How could we improve it? What would you like to see more of? Please let us know by completing the following short survey -

Key milestone in support for Kirklees children

A superb new school facility for Kirklees children with additional needs has been officially opened.

Woodley Moor - part of Woodley School and College - caters for autistic children of primary-school age and is based in Crosland Moor, Huddersfield.

The opening of Woodley Moor was a partnership between the school and Kirklees Council. It’s another step forward in expanding SEND provision and is part of the council’s multi-million pound investment in local special schools.

Project SEARCH and local careers fair

As part of Neurodiversity Week, Kirklees Council are hosting a Project SEARCH Interest Event which also includes a Neurodiversity Careers Fair.

Project SEARCH/Neurodiversity is all about celebrating our unique differences. Get ready to see what opportunities are available in Kirklees for young people seeking the next steps in their education or career.

Project SEARCH helps young people with learning disabilities and autism to find employment. The event is a chance to find out more and register your interest in getting involved.

As part of the careers fair, there will also be stalls from local organisations who can provide details about careers. They include: Kirklees Council Local Offer, Kirklees Council REAL Employment, Kirklees Council apprenticeship team, Kirklees College & Project SEARCH, C+K Careers Ltd, and local businesses.

The event is at Civic Centre 1, High Street, Huddersfield, on Tuesday March 18th (9:30am to 3pm) - booking is essential. It is mainly for young neurodiverse people who are currently in further education and looking for their next steps in training or employment. However anyone can book a ticket using the Eventbrite booking page:
