Kirklees Children with a Disability Service (CWD)

The Children with a Disability Service considers the needs of disabled children and young people from birth up to the age of 18 years old. 

These may include:
- a diagnosed physical or mental impairment which is likely to have a substantial and long-term adverse effect on their ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.
- a sensory impairment, a learning disability, or autism which impacts on day-to-day life.
- complex health needs.

SWYFT & Families Together - Cygnet

A support programme for parents and carers of children and young people, aged 5-18 years, diagnosed with autism.

Attending the programme gives parents and carers an opportunity to develop their understanding of autism and look at practical solutions to support their child. It also provides an opportunity to meet others in a similar position and hear about their experiences in an informal yet supportive atmosphere.

The programme is delivered over a 7-week period (3 hr sessions) and can be delivered as a face-to-face group or virtual sessions. More information is available on the courses page.

• Parents/carers of children aged between 5 and 18, with a diagnosis of Autism
