All about us
The Learning and Development Centre is part of Step Up Day provision (RCCL).
We provide day care services to anyone aged 18 and over who have special needs.
Within the day provision we support anyone over the age of 18 years of age with special needs.
The learning and development room is for adults who are more independent who may already be attending college and need something for the days off from college and holidays, or ones who can’t cope with the college environment yet still want to enhance independence and life skills, who may need support and guidance only.
The work is tailored / structured to suit the individual’s skills and ability.
We are based in Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury West Yorkshire.
The facility consists of wheelchair access and toilet facilities, a sensory room and dining area.
We are open from 9am to 3pm Monday through to Friday.
We are open most of the year apart from the following:
• Two Training days (twice a year).
• Bank holidays
• One week in August
• Two weeks at Christmas
• Two-three days over the year for Religious observances.
The Learning room intends to explore new skills, and enable people to make a positive contribution to the community.
We are the significant extra support mechanism
We are a learning centre where users learn or are involved in creating something every day.
We are the support between carers and the individuals, providing a break to the carers during the day. Person centered approach and support plans tailored for the individual.
Our service intends to make People with a learning difficulty / emotional needs feel more valued, independent and feel included as equal citizens within the local community.

Who is this service for?
Adults with special needs. 18+
Both Verbal and non-verbal communication methods used i.e. Makaton (basis level) Pictures / objects of reference.
Basic personal care prompts supported only i.e. hand washing / flushing or prompts to use the facilities.
Independent in Personal Care, changing facilities available.

How to access what we do
Contact Veena on 01924 978669 or Mob: 07397 800983 to complete a basic enquiry form so we can assess if we are able to meet the individual’s needs.
We then complete an assessment with you which will support the plans. Payments are via Direct payments.
