PDA Yorkshire
All about us
We are a Yorkshire-based PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) support group open to parents (and primary care givers) of children with or suspected pathological demand avoidance. Currently, PDA is a profile on the autism spectrum. It is currently a controversial diagnosis and it is difficult to obtain PDA assessments and diagnoses from services.
We offer a place where parents/primary carers can discuss PDA with people who can support and understand. Demand avoidance can be seen in a lot of children with Autistic spectrum conditions and anxiety disorders, but not as over-riding and pathological.
Share what works for you and your family and borrow ideas others share that you might find helpful.
Our aim is to raise awareness locally with parents and professionals, sign post to the other hubs of local info for generic Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)/special needs information and support each other.
