All about us

Touchstone ASK 4 Advocacy provides advocacy services for the residents of Kirklees empowering individuals to know their rights, make choices and decisions about their lives, and to ensure that their wants, needs and wishes are heard.

There are a number of different types of advocacy provided by this service:

  • Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy
  • Care Act Advocacy
  • Independent Mental Health Advocacy
  • Health Complaints Advocacy
  • General and Community Mental Health Advocacy

We also offer advocacy for parents who suffer from mental health problems or learning disability whose children are considered 'in need' or 'at risk'.  All services are available for those aged 18+. 

Services for those aged 16+ who are in transition from Children's services to adult social care provision include:

  • Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy
  • Care Act Advocacy

Who is this service for?

We work with:

  • adults aged 18 or over and those 16-18 years old who are in transition from the support of Children's Services to that of Adult Social Care
  • those who lack capacity around decisions as defined in The Mental Capacity Act, or have 'substantial difficult' engaging in assessment, care planning and review processes as defined under The Care Act
  • those who experience mental health issues, autism, learning disability or other vulnerability which impacts upon their ability to have their voices heard, views represented and/or rights respected

Eligibility will depend upon which advocacy stream is approached. Referral forms are available by email from advocacy@touchstonesupport.org.uk
