Great Howarth School

Great Howarth School is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls. Based in Rochdale, the school meets the diverse needs of pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs including: Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), ADHD and Autism. 

Great Howarth uses a nurture based approach to working with children with SEMH ( Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs). Most of our students have experienced traumatic times in their pasts and need adults that can make them feel safe through empathy, playfulness and acceptance. Only when a child feels safe and calm can they access the parts of the brain needed for learning.

Great Howarth offers through KS2 and KS3 a creative and engaging curriculum leading to qualifications at KS4 and KS5.

Our aim is to equipe all students to be able to move onto further education , higher education or the world of work with the confidence to persevere and suceed.
