Mencap in Kirklees - More2Do (North Kirklees)

We support and create opportunities for young adults in social and confidence building activities, providing both in-house and outdoor social meeting groups.
We meet on Wednesdays from 1pm to 3pm and the cost is £3 per 2 hour meeting.
Once a month we plan weekend away activity breaks. These generally cost £30, including 2 nights’ accommodation, transport and activities.
Examples of breaks we have supported are:
- Scout retreats
- youth hostels and seaside stays, involving opportunities for lots of activities including: canoeing, pottery, pony trekking, fishing, swimming, adventure fun rides, group and social skills, cooking, catering, and eating out.

Who is this service for?
Our activities are aimed meeting the needs of young adults with learning disabilities, with our core group being age 18 to 30. We have peer elder members in their 50’s plus - trained support volunteers.
We have the full level of trained staff and additional support as part of Mencap in Kirklees.
Our meetings are fully staff and volunteer supported with trip staff ratio of 1:5.
All aspects of group and individual needs are discussed prior to any group or trip registration.
