How to access what we do
The CAMHS Learning Disability (LD) Service provides a dedicated service for children and young people in Kirklees who have an intellectual/learning disability at any level AND co-existing mental health concerns that require input from a specialist service.
Children and young people do not need an LD diagnosis to access support from the service.
Once the referral is received, it is triaged to determine whether the referral is appropriate for input from the CAMHs LD team.
Every child or young person who is accepted into the service will have an initial assessment undertaken. We hold assessment clinics every 2 weeks in Dewsbury and Huddersfield.
We are able to accept direct referrals for children or young people who are attending the following Specialist Education Provisions:
Castle Hill School
Fairfield School
Ravenshall School (including PFA)
Southgate School
Woodley School, and College.
Referrals can be made by a child/young person, parents/carer, or any other professional involved in their care.
Referrals for children who do not attend one of the above schools must be made via Kirklees Families Together.
