All about us

We see a range of clients during their hospital admission or on an outpatient basis. There are also community dietitians based in the Support and Independence teams at Lawson Road Health in Brighouse and Beechwood Medical Centre in Halifax.

Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals who are registered with the Health care Professions Council and are governed by an ethical code to ensure they always work to the highest standard. Registered Dietitians assess, diagnose and treat diet related problems at both an individual and a wider public health level. We use the most up to date scientific and medical research and translate this into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate food choices.

Who is this service for?

Individuals that have diet related problems. We provide advice and support to people with a variety of needs i.e. people with diabetes, coeliac disease and people who are over or underweight.

How to access what we do

To get an appointment with a dietitian, your GP, consultant or practice nurse will send a referral to us containing information on your health and what type of nutritional advice they want us to discuss with you. Unfortunately, we cannot see you if you do not have a medical referral.

When we receive your referral, we will write to you asking you to contact us to make an appointment at a time and location most suitable to you. We have many clinics on the two hospital sites. Our letter will give you the choices which are available to you.
