SEARCHin for interns

About Project Search

Through our partnership with Kirklees College, REAL Employment and the national initiative, DFN Project SEARCH we’re offering 12 month internship opportunities.

Becoming an intern empowers a young person with a learning difficulty or autism to make the transition from education to employment with more confidence.

Interns gain valuable work skills, along with a skills curriculum package delivered by Kirklees College which includes strengthening independent living skills like sorting out travel and preparing for work.

This programme runs from September 2024 to June 2025 and is based at Dewsbury District Hospital. Interns must be keen to work and:

  • be aged 18-24,
  • have a learning disability or Autism,
  • have a current Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and
  • live in Kirklees.
