Kirklees school buildings to get £4.5million of improvements

Kirklees Council is set to invest £4.5million in improving school buildings across the district, including extra support for pupils with additional needs.

A wide range of projects has been agreed across the district, boosting learning environments for thousands of pupils and staff.

The works will include new roofs, new electrical equipment, better kitchen facilities, heating and lighting systems and improvements to access for children with additional needs so that school settings are even more inclusive.

Around 25 schools will benefit from the upgrades, most of which will be completed in school holiday periods to avoid disruption to children, families and staff.

The investment is not just in buildings and infrastructure, it is also designed to support all learners in having the best start in life and achieving excellent outcomes.

Schools with the biggest projects include Warwick Road Primary, Battyeford CE (VC) Primary, Brockholes CE (VC) Junior and Infant, Crow Lane Primary.

Thank you!

We would like to thank everyone who took part in our recent survey about the Kirklees Local Offer website.

In originally creating the Local Offer, the council worked closely with PCAN (Parent of Children with Additional Needs), KIAS (Kirklees Information Advice and Support), plus parents, carers, children and a range of professionals.

We are always looking to make even more improvements to the site – and we were keen that your views shape those changes.

The survey has now closed and we are looking at all the responses. We will bring you an update soon on the feedback you gave and how it will help us to develop the site.

The Local Offer brings together support, activities and services for children and young people with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities), plus their families.
